In Loving Memory of Don Runyon

Peacefully dipping his paddle to glide over the waters of the Lynnhaven, Don Runyon took every opportunity to take in and take care of the waters he loved so deeply. For years, as a dedicated member of the LRNow Stewardship and Access Committee, Don worked to clean our local waterways, plant dune grasses, and support his fellow volunteers and LRNow staff in their mutual goal of caring for our local environment. Humor and friendship were the gifts he left to his fellow river companions.

Don wished his memory to be celebrated through gifts to the mission to which he felt so connected – clean and healthy Virginia Beach waterways – through Lynnhaven River Now.

A gift in his memory helps to continue the work to which Don was so committed - oyster, dune and riparian restoration, waterway cleanup, and educating our Virginia Beach neighbors to be better stewards. As we continue the pursuit of clean and healthy waterways, Don’s memory will echo across the waves in gratitude.
